Beginning this month, Fifth Third Bancorp will offer its customers access to more than 45,000 fee-free ATMs nationwide as the institution joins the Allpoint ATM network.
Allpoint’s 43,000 retail machines instantly expands the bank’s existing ATM footprint, which comprises 3,600 fee-free locations — 1,100 of them in Publix grocery stores.
Fifth Third will gain 302 additional fee-free ATM locations in its home market of Cincinnati. Allpoint, which is owned by Cardtronics Inc., operates machines in Cincinnati Target, Walgreens and CVS stores, and at selected BP and Marathon gas stations.
“Fifth Third recognizes that our customers want to be able to withdraw money where and when it’s convenient and easy for them without paying a fee,” said Chad Borton, head of consumer banking and executive vice president at Fifth Third. “Our expansion with Allpoint will give our customers fee-free ATM access virtually anywhere in the U.S.”
Some of the Allpoint ATMs might be branded by another financial institution or retailer, but as long as the Allpoint name or logo is on the machine, it is free to Fifth Third customers, the bank said.
